Why'd you choose the username you created? Does it mean something?

Oddly, unlike a great many users on LJ who are hide their identity for some reason, I used my real name. Or significant parts thereof. www.livejournal.com/users/cathyn/

    Cathyn = my first name
Cardinal = my title in no less than three churches (ULC, SubG, Church Militant of the Outlands)
Kildare = the County in Ireland my family's from

So, the name is roughly Cathyn, Cardinal of County Kildare. In the ancient Catholic church this would mean that Kildare was mine, though in modern usage, it's (first name) (title) (surname)

cernnunos6669 is a name I had early on in my explorations of the internet and which I still use.

cernnunos being an anglitization of Kernnunos, the celtic horned god and lord of the hunt.

6669 being the oral copulation of the beast.
It is sort an homage to my pagan and satanic influences.

Long ago, in the days of Usenet (but after the "Great Renaming") I had the login "drseuss". I still do on my primary unix/mail account.

However, as I started signing up for various and sundry services, like yahoo or LJ, a name like "drseuss" is quickly taken. So I took the initials of the good Dr's real name, and have "tsgeisel".

      Me... kind of lame.

pseudofamous. Fake famous. I'm not famous, nor do I want to be. I think everyone no matter who the Blogger is, wants to BE famous with their journal. They may want hundreds of people to read their site, or what not. I, think I'd be an awful celebrity. So I'm fake famous.

With a real name like Wolfgang, I've never really searched for an online "persona". Unfortunately, when we went to go hunt for wolfgang as a username for LJ it was taken so the creative people that set it up for me came up with w0lfg4ng.

    Works for me.

I stuck "meme" to the back of my first name when I registered, as there was already a jody on LiveJournal. It was a hasty decision, I didn't care for it at first, but the kids seem to like it,so, what the hell.

My name, jason_bond_69, is a bit of a fluke because, for some reason, it would not let me select my traditional name, jasonbondshow. So out of frustration, I chose jason_bond_69 out of frustration.

Jason Bond is not my real name, but my community college radio DJ name. I will (hopefully) resume my radio career when I transfer to Appalachian State next fall to pursue my teaching degree.

As for the 69: yes, it does refer to the sexual position, and not the year I was born (which was 1971. I put it there out of frustration with the failure to get my usual ID.

Actually, the name "blackdhalia", was among some that I had thought up and wasn't in use. I asked my boyfriend at the time how to pell Dahlia and he told me the wrong way, hence the spelling error. After I had the name, I found out about the Black Dahlia murder 'cause people kept asking me if that is why I chose that name. I had never actually heard about her or anything relating to her at the time that I chose the name, so it was a kind of a fluke that she was burried 20 minutes from where I live and I became oddly fascinated by her story.
If I had my choice, I would have "nekogeisha" (cat artisan) since I use that for a lot of things anyhow. But it was allready taken by someone who abandoned their lj it seems.
    BAH!

bohemefem . . . i use it for just about every username that I have . . . way back in the day when I was on aol....I was trying to find a name that would reflect my bohemian attitude...and bohemefem was the closest I could come because all the other names I thought of were taken.....so I've continued to use that name bohemefem for everything....because I am a bohemian female! and I don't mean I'm from Bohemia . . . although that would be cool if I was ...

'drokk' has been my username since the time I was going to
sign up for this computer club membership and 'mathias' was already taken. It must have been over 10 years by now?

"drokk" is substitute for swear words in a british comic
    called Judge Dredd.

my LJ username used to be whispering_winds, that's the name i signed up with long long ago. i chose it as it just seemed... fitting some how.

i had to change it, however, to escape a bad roommate reading my lj situation and so

    viola

    Her_whispers

and that's exactly what it is. a journal full of my whispers.

My name is Cheryl Ayn. My lj name is cherylayn. :)

Actually it was a weird psychological thing with me. My old name was rageaholic. And at the time I had 'rage' in any of my internet names for message boards or chats and the like. I had done that because I was able to get away with being extra bitchy more often than not. Then I decided I wanted just to be more of myself online. Hmmmm . . .yes I *AM* and internet junkie. But yeah, that's my history.

I chose 'one_auto_one', initially, because it represented everything I meant to express in my outlet for my automatic writing (although it's morphed into something much more like a regular journals these days) - that I was a machine, and my writings were not my own (many of them were generated by software I had written, but, I'm not so interested in that now. I still don't consider automatic writing to be the property of the author, but that's a whole 'nother discussion). It also reflectts the repetitive/reflective nature of us borderline-OCD types, and the text that tends to be included its self.

My old journal was 'dolljunkie', which was lifted from the Richard Calder trilogy 'Dead Girls, Dead Boys, Dead Things' - which, if you've read it, is pretty self-explanatory as to why a person would've taken on such a handle.

I don't remember anymore why I have this handle. Someone said it suited me, and I added the "y"'s to make it unique, and I've been using it since I was 15 at least. Now it's stuck to me like some sort of parasitic arm.

A friend of mine that I used to work with wrote super monkey on one of my notebooks (the guy is really into monkeys). He was a really good friend (haven't seen him in a long time, have no idea where he went), so I made a name after him.

Sorry, should probably have said what my LJ name is ... it's supermonkeylove. I have that one and one more (which I don't use very often), the other one is Damnconfetti. I hate confetti, customers bring it into my work to decorate and it ends up all over the floor and is such a b**** to get up off the carpet.

My name is Gilana, and I'm a woman, but I couldn't use MsG because, well, that looks stupid and is the name of an ucky chemical or something, hence:

mizg (that's me, though I often consider changing it to just Gilana)

Budgie's a nickname I picked up at college in 1982. Despite only half a dozen people close to me using it a decade later, when I got online I started using it again, since this was supposed to be fun...

djdigit (djdigit.livejournal.com) was the obvious concatenation of my "dj name." Digit is short for Digital since I adore all things digital and the intersection of computers and music fascinates me. It turns out there have been somewhat popular DJ Digits in the past, so I'm looking for a more unique name (DJ Spazmo is the current top pick).

coolmari25 is my sn with pretty much everything. It all started with my first e-mail adress at hotmail. My sister heleped me to set it up. I cannot remember if it was my first choice or not, but I don't think it was. Her name was (insert sister's first name in blank spot) _____rocks@hotmail.com so I sort of copied her with the coolmari idea. 25 is my favorite number. I did not pick age because it changes every year, so that would be silly. the 20's have always been my favorite numbers. So many good things in my life revolve around numbers that are twenty somthing. Funny, growing up, people would not let me say all the twenties, they wanted me to pick a specific twenty. I picked 25 as my favorite number because it is a square number, multiple of five, good age to be, easily goes into 100, equivilent to a quarter, and has several other relations to fun numerical values.

I know, I'm a dork. But I just love number tricks and easy numbers to work with. Funny to think that although I love numbers, I'm not fond of math. Well, at least not after a certain level. I guess it's because I was sort of screwed over in that aspect of learning due to my school's error in my placement.

My LJ is mollyesther, which aside from being a slightly-amusing play on polyesther, is a nickname I got spontaneously from a traveling companion on a roadtrip in '02. I guess he thought it was a variation on melissa, he came up with it while making up a song about us both being sick on this trip. What's funny is that I haven't seen this chap since that trip, and no one else in the world calls me that. :)
I only have a few online handles I rotate through, and one of them always seems to be taken (although it was quite clever on IRC 10 years ago. :) Mollyesther is one of these.

I chose BlackRose900 for many reasons. Rose is the name my parents first gave me before they changed it to Ashley. Black is one of my favorite colors. I've always had 900 on every screen name i've ever had.

      My LJ name is thothmeister.

For nearly 20 years I've used the alias Thoth on the BBS scene (*cough, cough* Yes, we used modems before the Internet arrived). When I created an LJ, it was a no-brainer to take on a similar name (thoth was taken).
